Douglas fir, although not a true fir, is the premier conifer of California & the Pacific Northwest.  It hails amongst the old growth forests & is one of the largest trees growing there.  It is perfectly at home with the coastal redwoods, where these giants grow in prehistoric forests of moisture, rich soil.  In spring, the new, bright green tips explode with a citrus, conifer scent unlike any other.  We love this tree so much we wanted to capture it in all it's glory.
