Summer officially begins when the fireflies come out.  There are so many wonderful memories that come along with those little green and yellow blinking bugs.  Just sitting in the dim light of the evening, watching them slowly fly around the yard...that's living.  

Want to make sure your yard is a safe haven for these little guys?  Leave the fall leaves & debris.  They love this to hibernate come winter.  Ditch the pesticides!  Keep a few high patches of grass when you mow or raise the blade.  Reduce light pollution so they can find a mate!  Lastly...be kind to them.  Don't suffocate them in jars.
