Field Songs

Marsten & Marwood is the curious collection of peculiar fragrances handmade by Barnaby Black. Formulated with natural aromatics, raw botanicals, and fine fragrance materials, each scent is a small study in place, memory, and atmosphere.

Field Songs is the perfume of sun-warmed grass: golden fields alive with insect chatter, wild herbs under wandering footsteps, honey from unseen nectar, and songbirds carried across an open meadow as afternoon leans toward evening.

The Scent

Sweet grass and late-summer hay open bright and golden. Beeswax, meadow flowers, wild strawberry, and dry fruit bring the field into focus, while deer tongue flower, field cedar, and wild bramble leave a warm, green trace on the skin.

Fragrance Structure

• Top: sweet vernal grass, wild strawberry, and late-summer hay
• Heart: beeswax, deer tongue flower, meadow flowers, and field cedar
• Base: dry fruit and wild bramble accord

Materials & Concentration

• Parfum extrait compounded at 30%
• Organic grain alcohol, live plant and tree infusions, steam-distilled essential oils, compounds, absolutes, and other fine botanical concentrates
• Sweet grass was harvested in New England to create a rich vanilla-hay absolute
• Beach plum was gathered on the Long Island Sound, dried, aged, and made into an absolute
• Deer tongue flower is used at 2%
