Old Christmas

Marsten & Marwood is the curious collection of peculiar fragrances handmade by Barnaby Black. Formulated with natural aromatics, raw botanicals, and fine fragrance materials, each scent is a small study in place, memory, and atmosphere.

Old Christmas is an ode to Dickens and to the season before it became polished. Concentrated holiday essence: citrus and dried fruit, mulled cider and mixed cocktails, woodsmoke on a dark starry night, and the old tree waiting by the fire.

The Scent

Conifer and citrus arrive first, quickly warmed by clove, nutmeg, mace, and red fruit. Pine tar, frankincense, myrrh, cedar, oak, and ancient woods make the drydown feel like a story read beside a hearth while the last gifts are wrapped.

Fragrance Structure

• Top: red mandarin, red currant, sour cherry, and cocktail bitters
• Heart: balsam needle, white fir, clove bud, nutmeg, mace, and frankincense
• Base: pine tar, poplar buds, Somalian myrrh, blood cedar, oak, sweet almond, and ancient woods
